& The Postcard Project Storyline Small company and home offices all over the US are receiving boxes containing telecommunication equipment they’ve ordered from a London exporter. They are boring boxes, containing normal things. But nestled amongst the packaging, or perhaps hiding underneath, the receivers find something not-so-usual. They are simple postcards, at first glance easily mistaken for advertisements. In a way, they are advertising. But the sender of these cards isn’t interested in fast connections, or in bringing in more customers. No, they’re aimed toward something a little more eternal than that. The message of these cards is intended for the soul. “Let me pray for you.” One sentence. The typed words sit by themselves in the middle of the card, surrounded by white. The other side bears an address, ready to be mailed to:
Some of the cards are tossed directly into the recycling bin. Some are left around, gathering dust in a corner, waiting to be found. Some are even taken out into the world and distributed in public places by a worker, perhaps one who is religious, or even someone who is bored or curious. By whatever methods, the postcards find their way into the hands of the general public. And one by one they are dropped into mailboxes, bearing prayer requests, life stories, and small bits of hope. Hope. Hope that perhaps there is a God who will listen. A person who will hold out a hand and help them find eternity. Help them make a connection with the God of the universe.
& Current Process The book is currently in the editing stage. Each of the chosen stories will receive a full critique and most will have a rewrite by the author. We will soon be picking a title and designing the front cover. |
